Preserving the deep family tradition of courageous Biblical knowledge that has governed his life for nearly 41 years "Taft" diligently explores the many intersections of the African-American church culture. Time with him promises to be filled with dynamic insight and inspiration.
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, W. "Taft" Harris, Jr., is no stranger to the community. With many years of experience to his credit, his enduring influence communicates as a demanded clinician, author, lecturer and workshop facilitator. Holding degrees in Biblical Studies, Practical Ministry and Theology from Southwestern Bible College education and spirituality have comprehensively equipped him for his life's journey. He transitioned into the Greater St. Louis area for further studies in Progressive Christianity Eden Theological Seminary of the United Church of Christ. During this time he served as Co-President of the seminary student organization that would provoke long lasting change in the fabric of the life of the school.
He also completed the MBA-level spiritual entrepreneurship program for faith-rooted leaders- GLEAN in partnership with Columbia University NYC School of Entrepreneurship. As a result of this academic opportunity, he is the Founding Executive Director of InnerMission. InnerMission serves former ministry leaders who willingly or unwillingly make transitions back into the marketplace.
He is, in addition, a veteran publisher and founder of Horizons Media Group. This group founded and published Liberty Park Living and Sicard Hollow Neighbors Magazines in the Greater Birmingham, Alabama area in partnership with the powerhouse Best Version Media. Most recently his media group partnered to publish a cannabis lifestyle publication, SENSI: The New Normal, in St. Louis. He also accepted the challenge to lead a publication in the Houston area for Decided Catholic Excellence Media serving downtown and areas East of he city. He is the author of three novels Highway Yellow, When Cracks Get in the Cement and You Got More Mouth than a Hound Dog Got A##.
His knowledge of media/public relations and personal experience allowed him to serve as Communications lead for EXPO (Ex-Incarcerated People Organizing) Missouri and outreach of Metropolitan Congregations United. He also serves on the Community Advisory Board with Faith and For the Sake of All. Most recently he accepted a place as a member of the City of Houston's Racial and Ethnic Equity Committee.
He is a licensed and ordained Baptist preacher of many decades and holds privileges with TFAM, The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries
Most recently he bravely launched, The Taft Agency Unparalleled gathering the attention of social media influencers, networks and celebrities for his abilities to guide them into immeasurable paths of success.
In addition to answering this call he curates "The Tabernacle with Taft". In this karaoke outreach singers are allowed to perform any selections except "Christian or Gospel" and while they are singing he writes a three minute message in response. This outreach is done anywhere, except in a traditional church setting. After 16 months of gathering in various “non-traditional” locations the group prayerfully decided it was time to transition into a church. Namely, The Tabernacle Fellowship of Birmingham, launched July 2, 2024.

His candid unscripted video interactions with his maturing children cause them the subject of many social media conversations.
When not engaged in theological discussions or community, Taft enjoys taking pictures of abandoned churches across the country.
Equally enjoyable is navigating life with Chase Alexander the St. Bernard.
